Woodsheds
A particular project of research and experimentation promoted by the Ecomuseum aims to reintroduce and supervise two underwater “woodsheds”, which once were regularly set up and integrated by the fishermen themselves, in order to facilitate the spawning and ensure the growth of the juvenile perch, one of the most renown and appreciated fish species of the lake, which is now greatly reduced. With the collaboration of the Cooperativa Pescatori Professionisti del Lago Maggiore, we will locate two sites near the island where the woodsheds will be set up, and the CNR-ISE Hydrobiological Institute will take care of the long-term monitoring of their evolution and that of the hosted fish, tanks to the sampling of the catch and underwater shootings too.
An important activity of reintroduction of the woodsheds has been carried out over these years by “La Pinta” https://www.incubatoionaturale.it/
